*-*-*-* Silver Xpress Mail System *-*-*-*
(c) copyright 1988-1992 by Santronics Software
This document covers all changes and new features to all models of the
Silver Xpress Mail System.
Read the necessary parts for your version of BBS. Any part which is
not specifically labeled for a particular model, should be considered a
generic Xpress feature.
Silver Xpress 3.00 represents over 2 years of work since the 2.27 release,
in July 1990. There were many changes and enhancements. But overall, at
the basic level, it is the same old powerful mail system which help make
what bulletin board systems are today.
Only the new features or anything that is considered semi-important will
be mentioned. For all intent and purposes, all bugs, mites were killed or
eliminated in 2.27xxxx.
┌─────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│TO ALL QBBS, REMOTE ACCESS, QBBS CLONE SYSOPS│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────┘
There is ONLY one specific version of Xpress for all HUDSON MESSAGE
SYSTEM Bulletin Board Systems. It is called HMS Xpress (Model H1).
The old Remote Access A1 Model and QBBS Q1 Model are now obselete.
The H1 model is the generic HMS model of Xpress which will work for ALL
versions of QBBS, REMOTE ACCESS, and living clones. For RA and QBBS, H1
will work to it's fullest. In other words, HMS Xpress directly supports
QBBS and Remote Access, and all others using the QBBS 2.64 logic.

Switches Eliminated
-------------------
Other than the renaming of switches above, the following were
completely eliminated:
-MAX Total number of messages to download
-N (was -NODE for beta testers)
Change in Behavior
------------------
-J for HMS Xpress will no longer look for the EXITINFO file. Using
the -J tells Xpress to go directly to the user file. What was
happening was even if the -J was provided, Xpress finding a
EXITINFO file (second node) and ignoring the -J option. Normally
this would of been avoided using a properly installed multi-node
Xpress setup.
-NC I don't remember what version caused a bug here. But by default
there is suppose to be COST ACCOUNTING for netmail messages. The
-NC turns it OFF, NO COSTING
o OPUS 1.70: Suppose for User's HIGH MESSAGE NUMBER or LAST READ NUMBER
using -HM switch.
o OPUS 1.03/RBBS/PCBOARD: Improved Fido Area Scanning using the Xpress
last read pointer system. This requires using the XPRENUM.EXE provided
for this BBS systems. All others do not need this.
o RBBS Xpress was made more generic. It can be used as a pure fido based
mail system.
o Door now allows for multiple reply file uploads.
o Now you can customized the Xpress menus
